Polaris Snowmobile Safety Recall
On February 22, 2024, Polaris issued a safety recall for certain snowmobiles built on the Matryx platform from model years 2022 through 2024. These snowmobiles are equipped with 650 and 850 Patriot engines. The recall was issued due to the potential failure of the primary drive clutch, which could cause the clutch to separate from the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or a crash.
Approximately 9,200 affected snowmobiles in the US and 3,800 in Canada are believed to be impacted by this recall. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission oversees safety recall campaigns on off-road vehicles, while Transport Canada is responsible for similar recalls in Canada.
Since the Matryx platform includes multiple specific models, several snowmobiles built on this platform between 2022 and 2024 may be affected by the recall.

Transport Canada's recall list is less specific, referring to year/make/model rather than engine displacement. However, the same snowmobile models are included in the Transport Canada notice.
Polaris advises affected riders to stop using their snowmobiles until they can be repaired. The company is notifying its dealership network and registered owners about the recall.
Owners can contact their authorized local Polaris dealers to schedule the necessary recall service once notifications are complete.
As of February 22, 2024, Polaris has received 109 reports of clutch failures, with nine involving clutch components separating from the unit. One of these reports resulted in a laceration injury.
